Description

The module HAXMEDIT is to edit the contents of HAM, V-HAM and HXM files which includes editing the values and managing the elements, for example to create new polygon-models with Descent Manager POLYTRON32. The name "HAXMEDIT" is a mix between HAM and HXM EDITor.

There are two versions of HAXMEDIT available: the DOS version and the Win32 version. Both are packaged together with POLYTRON32 and POLVIEW32 in the Robot Construction Kit (RCK), the DOS version is also available as stand-alone version (since the RCK installer won't run under prue DOS).

Notes for this Win32 version: Being the first available module ever of the Descent Manager Win32 modules, this one really is exciting: Not only that you have a very nice view of the objects in the HAM/HXM files (with icons), you can also use it to easily manage your polygon-models in V-HAM/HXM files using Polytron. Additionally to that you can preview models easily with PMView directly from HAXMEDIT32, by just clicking its symbol. For the most important commands you always have menu commands, keyboard shortcuts, a right-click-context-menu and the toolbar. Managing HAM and HXM files was never so easy! The latest version of HAXMEDIT32 now also has the editor included, with which you can easily edit the elements. However like in HAXMEDIT/DOS some fields are not editable to avoid multiplayer-cheating. Additionally -unlike HAXMEDIT/DOS- HAXMEDIT32 does not contain the low-level editor for model data, so you will need the DOS version to view and edit that.

Screenshots

Here are some screenshots (click on the image to get a larger one):

One of the great advantages of HAXMEDIT32, the Win32 version of HAXMEDIT is that the need to guess is gone, "now what robot was the ITSC again?". Icons can describe more than words!
Like the Explorer HAXMEDIT32 has four views of the main elements list. In the "Details" view you can get a list with the most important informations about all elements as an overview.
And if those details aren't enough, HAXMEDIT32 provides you with a "Details" dialog with even more informations.
Quickly open the current polygon model in Polytron or preview it in PMView.
You can easily switch to HXMEdit and HAXMEDIT/DOS with just one menu command.
Easy-to-use assistents will help you with most of the commands.
You can easily create new HXM and V-HAM files and you can even make new templates!
HAXMEDIT32 can also be run under Windows NT 3.51, although it looks quite strange. (Yes! This is Windows NT 3.51, NOT Windows 3.11! Not that you have now hope that you can get it to run under Windows 3.11 and Win32s or sth. like that -> it won't run...)
