Description

Tired of having to hassel with CDs to look at a level?
Tired of the DOS enviornment of DEVIL and its crashes?
Don't like the DMB's perspective problems and Win3.11 look?

Introducing LVLVIEW32! The only level previewer available! Featuring textured and 3Dfx views, POG and HXM support and 3D exports. View a level from any postion, find out about any objects, see all objects in 3D models (even the ones in HXMs!), take screen shots without the need to edit out a window! Fully written in VC++ 6.0, LVLVIEW32 has tons of features to make level navigating easier than ever.

The most important features as a summary:

  • Support for RDL/RL2/HOG/BLK.
  • Supports the HXM and POG add on files.
  • Contains an Advanced HOG Editor which allows for the opening of files and no need to save them (unlike the hassel in DMB2)!
  • 3D File Exports - Export the structer of a level into a POV or DXF file! (Soon to support 3DS and VRML).
  • Screenshots - Take a snapshot of the screen, no need to edit a DMB window out!
  • Supports cool OpenGL effects such as anti-aliasing, fog and lighting.
  • Textured view allows for a Descent-like view and Linear Texturemapped view allows for a 3Dfx view with out the need for a Voodoo card!
  • Offers a ton more viewing options than DMB2 and DEVIL combined!
  • MSN/MN2/BLK Viewer.
  • Selection buffer - CTRL+Left click on any object to find out its name, type, what it drops, position and number!
  • Offers more information about a level than any other Descent tool.

Screenshots

Here are some screenshots (click on the image to get a larger one):

LVLVIEW has a multitude of ways to view levels, objects and walls and supports the models in HXMs for all models.
You can have a great D2-like snapshot of any position. Two buttons let you view it in unfiltered (non-accelerated D2-like) and filtered (D2_3Dfx-like) mode. Note: that even though filtered mode does look like D2_3Dfx, you won't need any 3D card for it! So you could even use it to decide whether or not it is worth to buy a Voodoo card with this tool if you don't have one yet :).

Finally, use the Selection buffer to get information about any object. Ever wondered what's behind that locked door? This is how!
